It gave the whole weekend a sense of ease and timelessness.
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love
Mike is from the West Coast, happiest with a book, a ballgame, or a body of water. Morgan is from the East Coast, equally at home on a plane, with a novel, or in the kitchen baking. Together we keep it simple: travelling, cooking, and finding time to just be outside.
How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
We met on FaceTime at the height of lockdown — what was supposed to be quick ended up lasting two hours. Through COVID, we became our own bubble, figuring out how to enjoy the simplest version of life together. If staying in with board games felt that good, we knew we were onto something.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood and style of your wedding. (theme, key styling elements, florals, colour palettes etc.).
Every detail was intentional. The invitation motif referenced Mike’s nickname for Morgan; each guest received a handwritten letter, and place settings were finished with napkins embroidered with their names. For the mood, we drew from the South of France — a nod to Morgan’s grandmother — with lemons, lavender, and topiaries bringing that atmosphere to Vermont. It gave the whole weekend a sense of ease and timelessness, like a dinner party that just happened to be a wedding.
What styling and visual elements worked best for you? (could be things, the florals, particular hire products or your marquee, etc., something the stylist created or simply just the scenic beauty of your location or the existing design of your venue).
We weren’t interested in the standard rental look — everything felt too safe. Instead, we kept the base minimal and invested in a few bold choices to set the tone: we bought Fornasetti-inspired plates that felt almost like art pieces that guests got to take home, and napkins embroidered with each guest’s name. The lemons gave the table a freshness that kept everything chic without ever feeling over-styled.

What did you enjoy most about the planning process, and do you have any tips for couples starting their wedding planning journey?
Mike loved taking the lead on the playlists — curating songs for every moment and working with the band to set the tone. The food and wine tastings were an easy bonus. Morgan loved shaping the vision and having an excuse to call her mom (our real wedding planner) every day. Our advice? Don’t feel rushed to make decisions. Ask every question, push for alternatives, and choose vendors you trust. The right team makes everything lighter.
Tell us about your vendors. Were there any standout suppliers you would like to make special mention of?
Dexter Lake Club Band was outstanding — they carried the energy of the night and made the dance floor feel electric. Edson Hill was a standout too: a venue that managed to be both intimate and luxurious without ever feeling stuffy. The staff went above and beyond to make the entire weekend special and welcoming.
Our photographer, Alyssa, was another highlight. She brought a calm, steady presence to the day, which made us both feel at ease, and the images she created are candid, artistic, and beautiful.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, and is there a story?
Fashion was Morgan’s favourite part of wedding planning. For the rehearsal dinner, she wore her mom’s wedding dress reworked into a two-piece — one of the weekend’s most special memories. Her Amina Muaddi pumps inspired the invitation design, and her wedding look was minimalist glam: a sleek gown with a dramatic overskirt that came off before the first dance. Every detail carried meaning — her mother’s headpiece, grandmother’s earrings, a necklace from her great-aunt’s engagement ring, and her grandfather’s handkerchief on the bouquet.
Mike wanted a black tie without stiffness. The wedding was formal, but the welcome drinks and rehearsal dinner leaned toward cocktails—his look, which included a black blazer, a low-neck shirt, and Chelsea boots, added a fun touch.
Tell us about your wedding and engagement rings.
Morgan’s engagement ring has been in Mike’s family for generations. It belonged to his great-grandmother, then passed to his father, who proposed to his mother with the same diamond. In the 1990s, the stone was reset into a new band, but for Morgan, Mike had it restored to its original form — the gold band his great-grandmother once wore. There was never going to be a ring more meaningful. He didn’t ask Morgan’s opinion beforehand, wanting the proposal to be a complete surprise — fully prepared for her to change or upgrade it later. Instead, she fell in love with it instantly and didn’t want to alter a thing. For her wedding band, though, Mike let her take the lead entirely.

What were one or two elements that were most important to you both that you were happy to spend a little more on? (food, photography, florals, the venue, your outfits?).
We invested in what guests would actually feel — the venue, the music, the food. For Morgan, it was fashion and a few bold details like the plates and embroidered napkins; everything else stayed pared back.
Was there a favourite moment (or two) that you will treasure always?
All week the forecast called for rain, and by the morning of the wedding, it was pouring. We had a rain plan, but we were really hoping to have the ceremony outside, but then we spotted a tiny one-hour window where it might clear — right at ceremony time. We decided to risk it. An hour before, the clouds broke. By the time we walked down the aisle, it was a perfect 75-degree sunny day, and the rain never returned. It felt like our grandparents were watching over us.
