Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do, what makes your brand special?
My name is Loren, I’m an editorial wedding and fashion photographer, mother and nature lover based on the Gold Coast and the Creative Director of Our Heritage & Co. I grew up in a small NZ farm town, which essentially inspired my decision to start documenting stories, as I grew up often listening to stories from my grandparents about our own family history. I loved the connection I felt. I approach every wedding with that in mind – that I’m here documenting someone’s life history, that will eventually be passed down onto generations to come. You can also say I love fashion, so I tend to shoot weddings in a documentary but modern way.

How did you get started in the wedding industry?
I started off first doing a few mentoring sessions just to learn how to work my camera properly! Which then lead to me shooting a few weddings to practice as a second shooter. After a year or so of second shooting and loving weddings, I took the plunge and went full time into weddings. It took me a while to find my style, what kind of weddings I love documenting and those finer details but after years of practice and trial and error I’m confident now in where I am as a creative.

What is your number one recommendation for couples who are choosing a photographer?
Meet with them first, whether that’s via zoom, facetime, call or face to face. Definitely meet so you can chat beforehand and see if you like them as a person – you’ll be with your photographer for the majority of your day, from getting dressed, to crying, to hearing all about your childhood from your parents. It’s so important to love their work but also them as a person. So make sure you book someone you feel comfortable with!

What inspires you?
Nature, the ocean, heritage buildings, sculptures and different textures. Music, especially classical, It helps me in the creative process of editing wedding films.

Any exciting plans for the future that you would like to share?
We’re travelling to Fiji for a wedding and planning a few more trips to beautiful Christchurch and Queenstown for a few weddings this year – we’re so grateful and super excited
