Page + Andrew by Yvonne Liew

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

I don’t think there was a certain moment, but my favourite parts of my day are the simple things that we do together. Coffee in bed in the morning and snuggling on the couch at night are what I look forward to the most….

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

PB: I love creativity and art, animals and all that glitters. Andrew loves dirt, hunting and everything outdoors. We are polar opposites but somehow we work perfectly. I’m a dental Therapist. Andrew is a Diesel Mechanic as well as many other things. Family and friends are so important to us.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

PB: We first met at high school. I thought Andrew was so sweet. Andrews first impression of me was “Ooh la la”. We didn’t start going out for another 5 years when I was in my last year at university. We moved pretty quickly after an unexpected kiss at the whanganui races. Andrew asked me to be his girlfriend after one week and we were saying the L word after one month! We’ve been together 8 years now. We have grown and learnt so much about each other.

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

I don’t think there was a certain moment, but my favourite parts of my day are the simple things that we do together. Coffee in bed in the morning and snuggling on the couch at night are what I look forward to the most. The way Andrew treats me is another reason. He is kind and understanding and brings so much energy!

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…

The proposal was so simple and beautiful. We were visiting family friends up in Whangarei. We were walking along the beach and he knelt down and gave me a special ring that he had hand carved out of a cast deer antler. Andrew was so nervous that he got tongue tied and asked “would I engage him”.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…

I wanted the mood to be classic and clean, all neutral colours. Oatmeal napkins and dried flowers on the table with cut crystal glasses and vases. I wanted the florals to be all white with no greenery. I was happy with how everything came together on the day. Everyone who knows me knows I love glitter and sparkly things so I think they were surprised when I arrived in a dress with not one sparkle onboard. The second I tried on my dress I knew it was the one – it was one of the first dresses I tried on and none of the other dresses compared.

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?

The floral arrangements. I was so happy with how the flowers turned out. I felt like they brought a classic yet rustic vibe to the wedding. The arches for our ceremony were phenomenal! Suzette really outdid herself. She actually said that they were the largest arches she had ever made.

Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?

To be honest nothing was stressful (apart from the walk up the isle). Paula from Rose and Smith had everything under control. The whole team is amazing! We really had nothing to worry about and could actually be present and enjoy every moment. We can’t thank them enough.
