Mattia + Núncia by The Lopes Photography

Tell us about yourselves:

N: “We are a young couple. He is 29 years old, Italian and I’m 28 years old, half South Korean and half Angolan but now, both of us are living in Cascais, Portugal. We work together in digital marketing. We are into simple things. We like nature, reading, travelling, sports, etc.”

How/where/when did you meet— first impressions?

N: We started talking through a dating app, then we decided to meet in Florence for a drink. I was quiet and without great expectations, I planned to get to know him, then slowly see.

M: We met on a dating app and met in a bar in Florence. It was summer 2018. The first impression I had was that she was beautiful but also weird!

When did you first realize this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

N: With Mattia, I never asked myself this question…Everything happened naturally.

M: I realized we had a lot of chemistry and we were compatible after we went to Cinque Terre for a 3-days vacation together. Laughing, walking hand in hand, exploring beautiful small towns, adventuring in nature, confessing our secrets and opening ourselves up while eating delicious fish-dishes. It all turned into love very quickly!

Was there a proposal? Tell us a bit about it…

N: There wasn’t a proposal, we had talked together and decided to get married.

M: No proposal, we are pretty unconventional. It was more or less like this: “I think we should get married to formalize our relationship.” “I agree!” It wasn’t very romantic, I have to admit! But very coherent with our personalities and way to live life.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding:

N: With Covid, we decided to keep things simple, celebrating our love with a minimal style wedding that felt true to who we are.

M: Something intimate, but significant. Not extremely loud or messy! Just straight and direct. Like we are!

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, was there a story?

N: I wanted something different from the usual brides, I looked a lot and nothing convinced me… Until 2 days before, I went to a bridal atelier and chose the dress. I wore earrings gifted to me by Mattia with a bracelet from Mattia’s sister.

M: I chose the outfit a few days before the wedding with friends of mine.  The morning of the celebration, I realised I didn’t have a tie at home, luckily, my sister gave me a tie as a wedding gift the night before.

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?

N: The dress … as soon as I saw it, I didn’t think twice.

M: We love good food. So the dinner of the wedding was fish-based. I ate lobster for the first time in my life! It was very delicious.

Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight?

N: “Everything was organized quickly, counting that I chose the dress 2 days before, photographers, cake etc… Everything was organized in a week, a bit of a rush, but everything went well.”

M: “I think we looked like the most naive couple that ever got married! We didn’t know what to expect because we decided to marry at the last minute. Starting from the celebration… to where it was expected to be celebrated.
