We’re both real estate agents. We live on the coast in NSW where we spend as much time as possible in the ocean.
We had both travelled the world before meeting and we quickly realised that we both wanted the same things out of life. We wasted no time in starting our family. It made it all the more special to have our daughter at our wedding.
Ryan —— I met Tegan at a real estate awards night. She won one of the big awards and I remember thinking, she’s not only an absolute gun real estate agent but she’s also the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. I immediately went over to introduce myself.
Tegan —— I admired Ryan’s confidence. He was handsome, charming and genuine. That night was the start of our love story.I’d never met someone more positive in my life. Ryan truly makes me want to be a better person every single day.
He proposed on 1/1/21 when I was 30 weeks pregnant and completely notsuspecting that a New Year’s Day proposal was looming. We were walking along the foreshore discussing our goals for the year ahead. I rattled off a list of what I wanted to achieve and Ryan did the same. Then he said, ‘But I have one last goal… and that is to get engaged’. He dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him.
Our vision for the wedding was to have an elegant and intimate affair focused on family. We only invited 15 guests, including our immediate family and our closest friends. I knew that the venue, Talm Beach House, is such an epic location that it was a statement in itself and didn’t need much styling. The black and white colour palette influenced the invitations and bridal party outfits. However, a gorgeous pop of blue in my bouquet complemented the colour of the ocean.
Our wedding day was completely stress free and the most relaxed I’ve ever felt. I’d tried on a couple of wedding dresses but my mother found this stunning statement gown and immediately said, ‘I envision you wearing something like this on your wedding day’. I agreed and loved it before I even tried it on. It was very special, wearing a gown that Mum had chosen for me.
Ryan —— I engaged Vince Varqa, a local tailor, to design my tux and the best man’s outfit. My only brief was that it had to be classy. He said ‘just trust me’. When we collected it, Vince opened a bottle of wine and gave me meaningful marriage advice over a glass of Shiraz.
