Sarah + Sean by Savanna Sturkie - Together Journal

The wedding style I wanted was timeless, classic, and romantic. I wanted a design that looked effortless and unlike a traditional wedding.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

Sean: I am a branding professional who operates a supplement brand. I enjoy exercise, long walks with our new cockapoo puppy Sammie, and basketball.

Sarah: I am the Senior Director of North American Procurement for a food packaging company. I enjoy travelling (anywhere with a beach), working out, shopping (love a good mall) and our new cockapoo puppy Sammie!

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

Sean: Sarah & I met during the 2020 covid-era. Initially, her beauty & style was what caught my eye. We started to workout together and she would outperform me fairly often. I loved that about her. To this day, we still go to the gym together for all of our workouts. She’s my forever workout partner.

Sarah: My normal gym did not reopen immediately after the covid lockdown, and I decided to join LA Fitness. That is where Sean and I connected. I finally worked up the courage to ask him if we would work out together (little did he know I actually knew what I was doing). My first impression of Sean was just how HOT he was. After getting to know him, I learned that his heart is his best feature. And I now have a lifelong personal trainer!

When did you first realize that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

Sean: During the covid days, there wasn’t much to do. We’d play basketball at the local park, cook dinner, and play Uno. The world was in a bit of disarray but everything felt fun and safe with her. I had never had a plus one I felt that way about. I knew then she was the one.

Sarah: Sean is the guy that every little girl dreams of; he is an answer to so many prayers. He is the kindest and most selfless person I have ever met. Almost immediately I could not imagine a day without Sean in my life. I wanted to do everything with him. Everything just felt so right even from the very beginning–I knew Sean was my forever.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
Sean/Sarah: We went to The Capein Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in March of 2022. I proposed to Sarah on the beach one evening. She definitely knew it was coming on the trip – but didn’t realize that specific evening had been planned around her & that special moment. A local photographer captured the entire proposal while the hotel attendees lined their balconies to cheer us on as she said, “Yes!” We wrapped up the proposal evening with an elegant dinner on the beach under the stars.

Sarah: To add my perspective—The proposal exceeded my wildest dreams. It truly looked like a proposal from the show The Bachelorette. The proposal is just another example of how Sean always goes above and beyond to make everything so special for us. Even though Sean had no doubt I would say “yes” he was still very nervous.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?

Sean: Sarah gifted me with my first pair of Jordan Ones during our First Look. I had always wanted a pair and she ordered a really clean Black/Gray colourway off of GOAT. I changed into them for a second look before our cake-cutting. The crowd went crazy (most of my friends in attendance could appreciate a nice pair of sneakers)!

Sarah: For my wedding dress, I wanted a dress style I would look back on and always love. As a girl that loves shopping, I had made multiple dress appointments. My first appointment was at the Sentimentalist and the dress I chose was actually the first one I tried on (when you know you know).

For my second look, I wanted something really fun. My second look incorporated everything I love: a “blazer”, a crop top, a mini skirt, and feathers–what more could you want?
