Nestled in the native bush of a 60 Hectare private farm just north of Whangarei sits Crane Road wedding venue, a haven of natural beauty and serenity.
My wedding dress was a Grace Loves Lace gown, the Lena. I fell in love with the dainty unique lace and fit.
Lahl and I actually met in Darwin in 2016 on Tinder. I was up there working as a Nurse and he was also living there for work at the time. He had a warmth about him that made me feel so comfortable and we chatted for hours that first night.
Originally, we wanted to have the wedding at Castle Hill. However, we visited Otahuna Lodge and fell in love with it – it fits right in with what we wanted, which was old-world elegance and sophistication.
We’ve known each other forever,  we grew up together, each the youngest of three, it was a bit of a surprise for everyone!
My dress inspiration came from Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, she’s the quintessential 90s minimalist aesthetic I do – the complete style icon. I made it my own with family jewellery, puffy vail, beautiful rose flower heels and longer-length gloves.
We wanted our wedding to be traditional, however with a contemporary fun feel where people could feel comfortable and relaxed. We started with the idea of having an autumnal colour tone and went from there.
We actually met when we were in sixth form at school and went out with each other for a few months. We always stayed in touch with each other until we rekindled years later.
Our starting point: a pastel 70s dance party in the country. We stuck to that concept throughout, aiming for a comfortable, welcoming, and fun atmosphere. Sparkly disco balls, a bouncy castle, and bonfires with s’mores added playful touches and filled everyone with warmth and joy.
I’ve never been the kind of girl with wedding Pinterest boards and visions nailed long before I needed to plan a wedding. I had a vision of vintage meets modern glam.
