Lana + Wynn by Amanda Thomas Photography

We got chatting there and then ended up bumping into each-other at Las Vegas later that night.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

Wynn and I run Wynn Hamlyn together, He is the Managing Director & Designer while I am the Brand Director managing marketing and sales operations.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

I first met Wynn at his first pop up store opening party in Ponsonby. We got chatting there and then ended up bumping into each-other at Las Vegas later that night. The rest is history. We’ve been together ever since.

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

To be honest, I knew immediately. Wynn has always had a sense of home to me, which I felt from the first moment we met.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…

Yes, Wynn proposed to me on a rainy Summer’s day at Waihi Beach. It’s a really special place to me – My whole family, many generations on both sides of my family have loved and have spent summers there together.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…

I just wanted it to feel like home. Nothing too over the top, just our people all together. Mum and Dad recently built a new house with a large lawn in Horsham Downs, Hamilton. So that was a great setting!

The marquee overlooked the neighbouring farm, which was very dry that summer.

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?

A wedding planner! I consider myself to be really decisive, but for some reason, around our wedding, I found the details incredibly challenging. Courtney was incredible, I essentially gave her power of attorney, and she just made it all happen for us!

Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?

Yes! We used some incredible bulb lights from our friends at Angus Muir – We took quite a while to set these up, they look like bubbles overhead. Unfortunately, one of our power boxes blew, so we all got to enjoy these after-speeches for maybe 5 minutes… it was beautiful while it lasted!

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?

I designed my dress with Wynn, which was really special. I actually couldn’t make up my mind on what I wanted to wear until a few weeks before the wedding, but I guess working in the industry, we were lucky to know how quickly a dress can be made up 😉

Wynn also had his own suit made through one of our Made-to-Measure manufacturers. He accidentally chose a red polka dot lining (which wasn’t his preference) haha but is funny to think about now.
