For this beauty story, we set out to create two of-the-moment looks for modern brides and occasion dressing, both grounded in a philosophy we return to again and again at Together Journal: beautiful makeup should enhance rather than disguise. Think healthy, luminous skin, a softly flushed cheek, defined eyes and lips that still look entirely kissable. Polished and considered, but never overdone.
Just as importantly, we wanted this shoot to be about the products and tools we genuinely rate. These are not simply beautiful things that arrived on the beauty desk. Many are tried-and-tested favourites that our team and makeup artist Alex of Penton & Co. have used for years, both professionally on set and personally. From Bobbi Brown icons and Tom Ford Beauty to La Mer skin prep and the brilliant ghd Chronos, these are products we know, love and can wholeheartedly vouch for.
Across our two looks on Sophie, we explored different ways to create that coveted healthy glow, playing with sheer layers, subtle sculpting, soft colour and beautiful skin preparation. The result is less about prescribing a single ‘bridal look’ and more about inspiring a beauty approach that feels fresh, feminine and modern, while still allowing the person wearing it to look unmistakably like themselves.

La Mer’s The Moisturizing Fresh Cream
La Mer’s The Moisturizing Fresh Cream is a beautiful starting point for bridal beauty, instantly cooling and refreshing the skin while creating a smooth, luminous canvas for makeup. At its heart is La Mer’s signature Miracle Broth™, created through months of bio-fermentation with sustainably harvested giant sea kelp, alongside Moisture Matrix Technology to deliver lightweight, cushioning hydration and antioxidant-rich Lime Tea Concentrate. The result is skin that feels fresh, supple and beautifully hydrated without heaviness. For wedding-day prep, it’s the kind of luxurious ritual that helps create that coveted plump, healthy glow before makeup even begins.

BOOST LAB 24K Gold Hydrogel Eye Patches
We used BOOST LAB 24K Gold Hydrogel Eye Patches to prep Sophie’s skin for both of our beauty looks, applying them before hydration for an instant cooling and refreshing moment around the eyes. Infused with collagen, caffeine, hyaluronic acid and adenosine, they help hydrate and plump while calming the appearance of puffiness and leaving the under-eye area looking smoother, brighter and more awake. A brilliant addition to any wedding morning or occasion beauty ritual, especially after a late night or early start. Keep them chilled for an extra-refreshing effect.

Clinique Daily Calm™ Lip + Cheek Colour
We loved Clinique Daily Calm™ Lip + Cheek Colour in Soft Berry for creating the fresh, softly flushed cheeks seen on our model Sophie. The sheer, buildable balm melts beautifully into the skin, adding just enough berry-toned colour to lift the complexion and create that coveted healthy glow, while its soothing, deeply hydrating formula keeps skin feeling comfortable. It’s a particularly lovely choice for a wedding day, when you want cheeks to look naturally radiant, fresh and full of life rather than overly made-up.

Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation
For Sophie’s first look, we used the newly reformulated Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation, and it was a standout on set. The new, more fluid formula feels beautifully light and breathable on the skin, while still delivering the perfected, long-wearing coverage Double Wear is famous for, now with up to 36 hours of wear. Hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and glycerin bring a skincare element to the formula, helping create a natural matte finish that still feels fresh and full of life. We loved how polished yet real Sophie’s skin looked, making this an exceptional choice for brides who want flawless, camera-ready coverage that can comfortably carry them from ceremony through to the dance floor.

Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Contour Duo
We loved the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Contour Duo for bringing subtle definition and luminosity to Sophie’s look, and we certainly didn’t limit it to the face. Our makeup artist Alex swept it along Sophie’s collarbones and décolletage, using the darker shade to softly sculpt and the sheer illuminating shade to catch the light and add a beautiful, skin-like sheen. The creamy formula blends almost imperceptibly, creating definition without obvious contour. A gorgeous wedding-day product for giving both the face and body that softly sculpted, luminous finish that photographs beautifully.

M·A·C Multisculpt Matte Liquid Colour
A firm favourite on set, M·A·C Multisculpt Matte Liquid Colour featured across both of Sophie’s beauty looks. This clever multi-use formula can be swept across eyes and cheeks to contour, bronze, blush and sculpt, with buildable colour that blends beautifully into the skin rather than sitting on top of it. We particularly loved the versatility of the considered nude shade range, which makes it easy to layer tones and create soft, tonal definition.
For the eyes, a base like this is also key to wedding-day longevity, creating a lasting foundation for the layers that follow. With up to 24 hours of wear, Multisculpt is a brilliant addition to the bridal makeup kit, allowing you to move from barely-there warmth to a more defined, sculpted finish while keeping the overall effect soft and beautifully cohesive.

Bobbi Brown Skin Enhancer Multi-Stick
The Bobbi Brown Skin Enhancer Multi-Stick is made for that fresh, luminous skin we love for weddings. Part skincare, part makeup, it delivers a sheer wash of dewy colour while providing 24-hour moisture, helping the complexion look plump, healthy and beautifully alive. We love that it can be used across the face, cheeks and lips, either on bare skin or over foundation, without disturbing the makeup beneath. For brides, it’s a gorgeous way to bring light and dimension back into the skin, creating that effortless, lit-from-within glow that looks just as beautiful in photographs as it does in person.

Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tinted Balm + M·A·C Fix+ Magic Radiance Mist
For a soft, kissable hint of colour, we loved the Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tinted Balm. The clever formula responds to the lips’ natural pH, creating a sheer, individualised flush while ceramides, peptides and nourishing olive, jojoba and avocado oils leave lips feeling beautifully soft, smooth and hydrated. It’s perfect for weddings, when you want lips to look fresh, plump and naturally tinted rather than overly ‘done’, with an effortless finish that’s easy to reapply throughout the day.
M·A·C Fix+ Magic Radiance Mist – A final mist is one of those small steps that can make all the difference, particularly for bridal makeup that needs to look beautiful for hours. M·A·C Fix+ Magic Radiance Mist brings a fresh luminosity back to the complexion after layers of makeup have been applied, helping everything melt together for a more natural, skin-like finish.
Infused with vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and essential oils, the ultra-fine mist adds hydration and radiance without disturbing the makeup beneath. For brides, Alex loves it as a finishing touch, softening the appearance of layered products and bringing that fresh, healthy glow back to the skin. The result feels less like makeup sitting on the complexion and more like beautifully luminous skin.

GHD Sculpt
For this beauty shoot, we put the GHD Sculpt in White to work, creating the kind of soft, undone hair we love for a modern bridal look. Polished but never too perfect, with natural movement, beautiful shine and an ease that feels fresh and feminine.
Behind that effortless finish is some very clever technology. The Sculpt reads the hair as you style, responding to section size, speed and movement and adjusting the heat accordingly. Its AI-powered Heat-Adapt technology samples data 2,900 times per second, while ultra-slim infinity plates and softly curved edges glide through the hair to create everything from a smooth finish to loose bends and tousled waves.
We wanted the latter for this look. Working with small sections, Alex created gentle movement through the hair, keeping the finish relaxed and touchable rather than overly styled. The Sculpt made a technique that can be time-consuming feel remarkably intuitive.
“I loved how easily the GHD Sculpt glided through the hair. Creating that undone, tousled movement can take time when you’re working with small sections, but with the Sculpt I was able to create the shape faster than ever before.” Alex, Penton & Co.
There is something particularly lovely about the Sculpt in White for a wedding morning, too. Sleek, minimal and quietly beautiful, it feels perfectly at home among the considered details of getting ready. And, importantly, it delivers: glossy, softly styled hair with impressive shine and noticeably less frizz. A beauty tool we genuinely loved using, and one we would happily make space for in our own beauty kit.
