Ciara + Pedro – Pics by Cam Jae

I wanted the whole look to feel natural, playful, and colourful.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

I’m Ciara! I’m drawn to anything visual. Movies, art, design. I love trying new foods, finding new music, drawing, and creating. Pedro, too, is his own way. And it’s great with people in a way I’m not; he makes everyone instantly comfortable. Together, we love to explore. Whether it’s a new restaurant, a neighbourhood we’ve never been to, or a gallery. We’re happiest when we’re out in the world being curious.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

We met on Hinge before meeting in person at a brewery! And it ended up being the best first date ever! We immediately clicked and talked about music and life. It was love at first sight!

What styling and visual elements worked best for you? (could be things, the florals, particular hire products or your marquee, etc., something the stylist created or simply just the scenic beauty of your location or the existing design of your venue).

For styling, I started with the colour green and built everything from there. I wanted the whole look to feel natural, playful, and colourful. The florals were definitely the star—they brought so much personality to the day. Our florist got to be super creative, and it showed. The flowers really tied everything together.

What did you enjoy most about the planning process, and do you have any tips for couples starting their wedding planning journey?

My advice is don’t overthink every detail, don’t try to rationalise everything, and don’t try to make it all “perfect.” Just follow what feels right in the moment. It will look beautiful in the end, and you’ll love it no matter what!

Tell us about your vendors. Were there any standout suppliers you would like to make special mention of?

Yes! Our florist, Flowers by Melissa, was incredible. She ran with the vision board, and the final product was even better than I imagined. She created florals that were so playful and beautiful. And Cam, our photographer, was amazing too! She made us feel super comfortable in front of the camera, even making me feel less awkward. The photos were so good!! Like, out of a magazine. She had such vision!

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, and is there a story?

My dress was actually my mom’s from the ’90s. I had it altered and modernised, which made it really special. I wore green Jacquemus slides. They were the stars of the show. Pedro wore a casual Jack Victor suit and Collegium shoes.”

Tell us about your wedding and engagement rings.

Our rings are very simple. Classic gold bands. I think that simplicity fits. They’re pieces we can wear every day that feel timeless. My engagement is citrine!
