ALEX + ANTHONY by In the Wilds of Someplace

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship:

We met at work in 2014. It was a very mean but flirty relationship between the two of us. Alex would always tell me (Anthony) to “get back to work and stop stuffing around”.

One day she didn’t do that and she complimented my fresh hair cut I got the day before. Ever since then we started to get to know each other on a deep level. Alex started to buy me cannolis from this Italian cafe every morning, she knew the way to my heart – through my stomach haha. Eventually, I asked her out on a date. I think from the moment we got to know each other, we really valued our family cultures, Her Macedonian, me Italian. Knowing this relationship would be great because of the epic food of course….

What makes us unique is that we just love to spend time with each other, all the time. But it is not a dependency thing, it’s just because we truly love being around one another. We both are so supportive of our dreams and hobbies that being in the same room but doing the things we love, is still the most amazing feeling.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details:

Our style for the wedding was very different. We wanted to approach our big day as something everyone will remember. Different, some traditions, some not so traditions. Great food, great alcohol, just a really fun time. The style of the wedding was moody. Dark styling but with a pop of colour through the florals. Our wedding planner matched Alex’s Pinterest board so perfectly, we were blown away. We had family friends play the accordion & saxophone during pre-dinner drinks & a bit through the reception, we had an Italian reading during the ceremony and we had Macedonian and Italian dancing also at the reception. It was honestly such a great time. My favourite styling was hands down the photo backdrop put together by The Neon Cove, “That’s Amore” sign, Epic Installs paper background & Sir Botanical florals. Alex found an idea on Instagram and these guys delivered it to a whole new level. Oh and also, we heard everyone enjoyed the Aperol Spritz and Oysters at Pre Dinner Drinks which is a shame we missed out.

Tell us about your main outfits:

Alex – I‘ve never seen myself in a white dress getting married funnily enough. White has just never really looked good on me so I thought I’d take a punt and wear something loud. It was this beautiful silver sequin dress that dazzled as I walked down the aisle. I felt super comfortable and happy in it. Alvin from Meraki Offical did an amazing job.

Anthony – I wanted to go for a classic suit. You could say I was a bit inspired by Leonardo Dicaprio & Brad Pitt at the Oscars for “Once upon a time in Hollywood”. This suit from Parker & Co fit like a glove and it is my favourite most comfortable suit to date.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day:

Alex – Getting ready with all my family & close friends, was something I loved experiencing. I just absorbed every moment that when it was almost time to go & I had to read my vows for Holii on Camera, I started crying which also made Ash – the photographer cry! I’m not much of a crier so it got me good. Luckily I didn’t ruin my makeup haha. I remember being so nervous when In the car on the way there that I kept telling myself “you’re not nervous, you’re excited”, putting a positive story in my head. That when I saw Anthony and everyone we invited to share this day with, I felt so calm and so happy it was all happening. Celebrating our marriage with all of our family & friends was my highlight… Oh and the food of course – that was so damn delicious!

Anthony – I really liked the experience of being with my close mates & brothers getting fresh cuts at my barber Young Turks, it was a nice relaxing start to the day. The nerves started to come when it was time to get ready, especially when the limo showed up. I remember standing up the front, looking at the city views & everyone who came, absorbing that moment. Waiting 20 minutes longer for Alex to show, it kept me guessing, then she finally showed up haha. I loved when we walked into the reception and just the energy of everyone and the happiness, it was greatly felt. The funniest thing that happened when we first arrived, as we cut the cake and moved into speeches, our cake topper fell on the ground and made this big noise & everyone started laughing haha.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together: Communicating each others needs and support one an other through all of the fun, happy times and also the challenging ones. Be open, honest & lead with love. Everything is so much better when you see everything through the lens of love.
