The design leaned organic, modern, and minimal – soft neutrals, muted greens, and warm wood tones.
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
Andrew is the founder and CEO of Hyperion, a creative production company based in Los Angeles, working across fashion, editorial, and global brand campaigns. His career began in fashion production, and over time, he built Hyperion into a multidisciplinary studio rooted in luxury, but always with accessibility and heart. Palm Springs has been a throughline in that journey – the site of his first major editorial shoot at The Parker and later a place of deep personal transformation and sobriety.
Arturo works in strategic partnerships at SCRAM Systems, focusing on technology that supports recovery and strengthens communities. Originally from Mexico, he moved to the U.S. for his master’s degree and built a life rooted in resilience, family, and connection.
At home in Silver Lake, we love slow mornings with coffee, cooking together, karaoke in the living room, travelling to Costa Rica, and raising our Persian cat, Pongo. Our life is equal parts creativity and calm – ambition and intimacy.
How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
We met in Los Angeles in November 2020, during the height of the pandemic. Arturo had just opened Tinder for the first time. Andrew sent a message before their first date that read, “Get ready to meet your future husband.”
Our first proper date was sushi in Silver Lake. Arturo was still learning English and quietly translating under the table on his phone. What could have been awkward became endearing. There was ease immediately – humour, curiosity, and a surprising sense of calm.
Weekends quickly filled with hikes, cooking, music, and karaoke at home. Andrew was drawn to Arturo’s warmth and steadiness. Arturo admired Andrew’s creativity and drive. What began in lockdown – in a two-hour date window at Andrew’s home – turned into something grounded and lasting. Arturo likes to say Andrew was his first and only date in America.

What styling and visual elements worked best for you? (could be things, the florals, particular hire products or your marquee, etc., something the stylist created or simply just the scenic beauty of your location or the existing design of your venue).
We wanted the desert to lead.
The design leaned organic, modern, and minimal – soft neutrals, muted greens, and warm wood tones layered against The Parker’s iconic gardens. Wild & Behold created sculptural florals that emphasised shape and movement rather than volume, allowing the landscape to remain central.
Andrew’s custom ivory couture suit by Charles Harbison felt like the anchor visually – architectural but fluid, strong yet romantic. The asymmetrical floral arch on the Croquet Lawn framed the ceremony without overpowering it.
As the evening progressed, the mood shifted. Candlelight, aubergine accents, black velvet in the ballroom, and a custom black-and-white dance floor added drama. Even small details – cocktail napkins illustrated with Pongo, bilingual menus, the balance of open-air lawn and structured interiors – made it feel layered and thoughtful rather than overly produced.
What did you enjoy most about the planning process, and do you have any tips for couples starting their wedding planning journey?
The most personal part was tasting with our moms. It made the scale of the weekend feel intimate again.
Planning a multi-day celebration could easily become overwhelming, but we tried to approach it the way we approach work – collaborative, grounded, and clear on what mattered most. Photography was important to us, as was making sure the weekend reflected both of our cultures without forcing symbolism.
Our advice: be patient with decisions, stay open-minded, and build in real rest before the wedding. The days move quickly. Giving yourselves space to arrive calmly makes all the difference.

Tell us about your vendors. Were there any standout suppliers you would like to make special mention of?
We were incredibly fortunate.
Nicole Alexandra Weddings understood immediately that we didn’t want spectacle – we wanted cohesion and warmth. Wild & Behold translated the desert landscape into sculptural, whimsical florals that felt integrated rather than decorative.
Photography was layered: Ali Beck captured the emotional through-line of the weekend in a documentary way, while Tierney Gearon – a longtime friend – brought an editorial eye and deep understanding of The Parker’s light and architecture.
Kerry Malouf handled grooming with restraint and polish. Stylist John Dolio shaped each look across the weekend so that nothing felt repetitive.
And Midnight Special, our band, created one of the most unforgettable moments of the night when “Song for You” played live on piano – a highlight for both of us.
Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, and is there a story?
Andrew wore a custom ivory three-piece look by Charles Harbison, including a draped lapel blazer and scarf-tie blouse. Charles is a friend, and having a Black, emerging, LGBTQ designer create the look felt meaningful – it wasn’t just fashion, it was collaboration.
Arturo chose a classic ivory dinner jacket, tailored and refined, with heirloom cuff links that belonged to Andrew’s grandfather – his “something borrowed.” That detail quietly tied generations together.
For the after-party, both changed: Andrew into a second Harbison look and Arturo into a velvet shirt – looser, more celebratory. The shift mirrored the mood of the night.

Tell us about your wedding and engagement rings.
Andrew wears a Tiffany & Co. platinum engagement ring with channel-set diamonds — timeless but with subtle sparkle. We exchanged Cartier wedding bands: Andrew’s with a diamond detail, Arturo’s more classic and minimal. Clean lines, enduring design – pieces we’ll wear daily.
What were one or two elements that were most important to you both that you were happy to spend a little more on? (food, photography, florals, the venue, your outfits?).
Photography was essential. We wanted the weekend documented in a way that felt layered – intimate but elevated.
We were also intentional about the setting. The Parker holds deep personal meaning for Andrew – it was the site of his first major fashion production and later part of his sobriety journey. Choosing it wasn’t aesthetic alone; it was symbolic.

Was there a favourite moment (or two) that you will treasure always?
The ceremony. Standing beneath the palms, looking out at both families – New England and Mexico – together. The blending of languages, cultures, humour, and tenderness in our vows captured the emotional heart of the weekend.
And then, hours later, watching our parents sing karaoke at the Retro Room. That unpolished joy felt just as meaningful as the formal ceremony.
What does being married mean to you, and are there any special rituals you have that you would like to share?
It means choosing each other daily.
Compromise, respect, humour, and patience. It means building a future with someone who sees you fully and stands beside you in growth. Our wedding was a celebration, but marriage itself feels quieter and stronger – grounded in love, but also in partnership.
