A celebration that felt intimate and instinctive
From the outset, we wanted this editorial to feel less like a styled shoot and more like stepping into a world that already existed. Set at Hacienda Sereda in Canada, we imagined Aya and Sahil as though they lived there, hosting an intimate celebration shaped by the house, its surroundings and the things that might naturally be found within it. Rather than bringing in elements that felt overly polished or produced, the intention was to work with the character already present and allow that to inform the story.

We kept returning to a sense of old-world simplicity and the beauty found in things that feel familiar and uncontrived. Food looked as though it might have been gathered from the pantry and placed directly onto the table, while imperfect linens, tactile fabrics and organic florals brought softness and texture. There was no desire for everything to match or feel meticulously arranged. Instead, each detail was chosen to contribute to the sense that this was a real gathering unfolding naturally within the space.

The same thinking extended to the fashion. Sahil wore a linen suit, its relaxed fabrication entirely in keeping with the setting, while Aya’s dress, although created specifically for the shoot, was deliberately finished with raw, frayed edges. Rather than feeling pristine or overly formal, the clothing had a sense of ease and movement. Aya’s hair and makeup followed this philosophy too: soft, natural and slightly undone, complementing rather than competing with the wider mood.

The palette remained warm and earthy throughout, taking its cues directly from Hacienda Sereda. The tones of stone, aged plaster, timber and the surrounding landscape became part of the visual language, allowing the styling to sit quietly within the environment. Nothing was intended to feel too precious or perfectly placed. The imperfections were important, bringing warmth and a sense of authenticity to the imagery.

Ultimately, the shoot became an exploration of a quieter kind of luxury, one rooted in restraint, atmosphere and authenticity rather than excess. Every element was considered, but designed to feel as though it naturally belonged. By keeping the styling intentionally understated, there was space for the architecture, changing light and connection between Aya and Sahil to become central to the story.

More than anything, in building this world, we wanted to create something believable. A celebration that felt intimate and instinctive, where beauty came from the relationship between people, place and the objects surrounding them. Something that felt discovered rather than constructed.
