Mexican Modernism

Three Tables, Three Perspectives at One&Only Mandarina

A sweep of lime green linen, sunflowers against sunbaked earth and tiny embroidered rosebuds. Three very different tablescapes, each with its own personality, bring a fresh perspective to wedding design at One&Only Mandarina in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico.

Led by planner and designer Marianna Idirin, the multi-day editorial brought together an emerging generation of Mexican wedding creatives to explore the property’s distinctive settings, from its lush greenery and striking wooden architecture to the open expanse of its polo field.

The concept was built around discovery, with each setting informing the materials, colours and details that followed. Rather than imposing a single aesthetic across the property, the creative team allowed each space to suggest something different.

Lush Green

For the first table, a continuous curve of lime green linen winds its way along the centre, almost like a stream of water. Layers of foliage move between vivid lime and softer yellow-green, punctuated by rich red blooms, desert flowers and fresh fruit. Natural wood and touches of ivory bring a little restraint to an otherwise wonderfully expressive palette.

Crisp Whites

Out on the polo field, the mood shifts. Crisp white linen contrasts with the dry, brown earth, while golden sunflowers and warm wooden details introduce colour without competing with the landscape. A charming horse motif appears on each plate, a thoughtful reference to the setting and the horses nearby.

Warm Pinks

The final table, positioned beneath the resort’s wooden structure, embraces a more exuberant mix of fuchsia, orange, yellow and green. Florals mingle with plantains and fresh fruit, while hand-embroidered rosebuds on the napkins and table linens introduce a delicate, distinctly personal detail.

Working alongside Idirin, the floral team at Pinacate Floral helped shape each setting, while photographer Diego Padilla followed the changing light across the property, capturing the transition from afternoon into dusk.

What makes this series particularly interesting is the individuality of each table. From the sculptural movement of the lime linen to the quiet charm of the embroidered rosebuds, the details feel considered and closely connected to their surroundings. Together, they offer three quite different possibilities for celebrating in one remarkable place.
