Keryn Sweeny Art Prints

There is a quiet confidence to the way Keryn Sweeney sees the world.

This season, Keryn invites others to step into her perspective. The Auckland-based photographer has released a limited-edition collection of fine art film prints, drawn from years of travel and captured on medium-format and 35mm film. From quiet gardens in New York to the architectural romance of Paris, each frame is a meditation on composition, light and mood. Printed on Ilford Smooth Cotton Rag, the subtle texture enhances the grain and richness of the film. Editions are available in selected sizes up to A0, and once claimed, they will never be re-released, making each artwork a truly one-of-a-kind piece.

Keryn’s work will be familiar to Together Journal readers; she has featured in our pages and online more times than we can count. A long-time friend of TJ, she has supported our community with consistency and genuine warmth, bringing her refined, editorial sensibility to countless real weddings and creative projects.

Her limited-edition collection sits naturally alongside her wider photographic practice, which blends documentary instinct with an elevated, fashion-aware approach. Her images feel calm, polished and intuitive, revealing emotion without spectacle. This thoughtful style has positioned her as one of New Zealand’s most admired modern wedding photographers.

Film remains a defining part of her storytelling. Keryn incorporates it into every wedding she photographs and now offers exclusively film-based packages for couples who want its timeless richness. Again and again, clients find that these textured, imperfect frames become their most cherished images.

For destination weddings, Keryn values the time surrounding the main event as much as the ceremony itself. Welcome drinks, late dinners, post-wedding brunches — these quieter moments build connection and trust, enriching the photographic narrative in a way that feels personal and immersive.

With her new print release, Keryn shares the same artistry she offers her couples: refined, cinematic and deeply considered. Each limited-edition work offers a glimpse into her distinctive way of seeing the world, where beauty is found in stillness, light and intention.

Your new limited-edition print collection feels like such a natural extension of your photographic voice. What drew you to release these artworks now, and how did you curate the images that made the final cut?

It’s been on the cards for a while now, but a large part of this body of work was photographed on a recent trip to Paris, and I finally felt ready to launch them as a cohesive collection.

Your work blends documentary instinct with a calm, editorial sensibility. How would you describe your signature style, and what do you feel sets your photography apart in the modern wedding space?

My style really reflects the photography journey I’ve been on over the years. It feels like I’ve finally come into my own. I’m inspired by fashion, travel, architecture, other photographers, and most of all, art history. All of those influences merged together gradually and helped shape a style that feels true to me. I’m lucky to meet a lot of like-minded people along the way who resonate with those influences and want that to shine through on their wedding day.

Film plays a significant role in your practice, from mixed-media coverage to your exclusively film-based packages. What is it about film that continues to inspire you, and how does it influence the way you approach a wedding day and your print series?

What inspires me about photography in general is that there’s always more to learn! I fell in love with it as a kid, and I can’t imagine that I’ll never get tired of it. And for me, everything just feels better on film: the colours, the emotion, the depth. Film delivery days are always so exciting; if I’m out, I can’t wait to get home and see the scans. I don’t feel that same spark with digital for some reason, and that difference really influences the way I shoot and the way I see.

Can you walk us through your creative process when you’re shooting, from what catches your eye to how you translate atmosphere into a frame?

I love layers of light, layers of story, layers of movement. I’m always drawn to frames where a lot is happening, where more than one story can unfold at the same time. Those subtle interactions and overlapping moments are what spark a composition for me. When I see layers working together in a way that feels atmospheric and alive, that’s when I know I’ve found the shot.

As someone who has worked with countless couples over the years, what advice would you offer to couples looking to choose the right photographer for their wedding day? What should they pay attention to beyond the portfolio?

I definitely think couples should choose someone whose style they’re drawn to but also someone they feel comfortable with and trust. You want a photographer who can guide you through the day, advocate for you, and help you feel at ease so the images feel natural and true to you as a couple.

You’ve been part of the Together Journal community for many years, contributing to real weddings, editorials and now this beautiful print collection. What’s next for you? Are there any personal projects, creative directions or future releases you’re excited to explore?

I have, it’s been such a joy to watch everything Togther Journal has achieved over the years and be a part of this wonderfully supportive community.  There’s lots of travel ahead next year for weddings which I’m really excited about, and I have a few personal print projects in motion that I’m excited to develop further, which feels great, maybe I’ve finally found that balance I’ve been chasing for so long haha. I’m looking forward to sharing more!
