Laura & Jamie by Stone & Wool Photography

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

We both grew up in Byron Shire (North-East NSW), attending the same High School with mutual friends. It wasn’t until after High School at a mutual friends 21st birthday that we properly met and began our relationship.

Jamie showed off doing backflips, boasted about being a ‘tree surgeon’ and confidently introduced himself to Laura’s mum. Laura laughed at Jamie, not believing there was any such thing as a tree surgeon but secretly loved his confidence and decided it was a great idea to kiss him at the end of the night. Jamie is an Arborist (technical name for a ‘tree surgeon’) by trade and travels worldwide for Tree Climbing Competitions. Laura is an Account Exec at a small travel company and loves to travel everywhere, so is not hard-pressed flying with Jamie all around the world for said competitions. We both love the outdoors, our family & friends and especially each other. One of the best things about our relationship is that we still have independence to do our own thing, get out and about (or stay in) then come together at the end of the day and spend quality one-on-one time.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

As soon as we stepped foot on The Old Dairy grounds, we knew we wouldn’t be happy with any other venue. The wide-open space, rolling green hills, the rustic charm of the bar & barn and the luxury cottage on-site complete with ‘Man Cave’ wine cellar really roped us in. Being lovers of the outdoors, it was the perfect setting for us in a location that held a lot of meaning to our relationship. We kept our decorations very simple, allowing the venue to showcase its natural style. Red roses were a must – a dream that I have always had. A tiara was also a must – when else would I get to wear one?! Jamie looks great in blue so of course the suits were navy with Bridesmaids dresses to match. Altogether we aimed for a classic colour palette with red and navy and a touch of dusty pink to match my gown.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

Laura: I’ll never forget the moment I arrived at the venue, looking down toward the ceremony area and seeing Jamie pacing back and forth with tissue in hand, trying to keep it together. The amount of people we had on the dance floor ALL night long was incredible!
