We wanted something small & intimate but lots of fun – so music was key.
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
PD: We both work in London and when we’re not working, we’re travelling in search of good food!
How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
PD: We both grew up in the same small town, but we started talking / dating when Nick finished University and moved to London.
When did you first realize that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?
PD: I pretty much knew when we first started talking we had similar interests and ambitions.
Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
PD: In the kitchen on a rainy Monday evening in March! Anything else wouldn’t have taken me by surprise after 11 years and many, many conversations.
Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…
PD: We wanted something small & intimate but lots of fun – so music was key. Dave (who we met in Covent Garden during some of our first dates) played throughout the drinks reception and on the day, he kindly agreed to stay on and play through the wedding breakfast – everyone was up on their feet and singing! We came in to our breakfast to Gasolina which really set the tone and we had Classic Ibiza anthems lined up courtesy of Dos Tiempos (DJ/Drum Duo) and Heather Hoyle (Saxophonist) for the evening.
What was one element you were happy to splurge on?
PD: The venue was a splurge – we always thought we’d get married somewhere in London, close to home, but we loved it when we visited, and it was booked for 3 months later! It was the only venue we ended up seeing. Good food was our other non-negotiable, but luckily Kin had that covered!
Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?
PD: The cake. The first one melted before it got to us (throwback to the depths of British Summertime), the second arrived and Nick headbutted it as we got in the car to leave for the venue. Queue a very stressful, long journey with the aircon blasting on full, trying to keep the rest of the cake cool enough to salvage! Luckily Kin were able to work some magic and once the flowers were on the next day, everyone was none the wiser.
Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?
PD: The bridesmaid dresses all came together quite literally the night before. We tried a few things together a couple of weeks before that didn’t work and we took a bet that these would. My sister & MOH had taken to making swatches of the different dress colours and it paid off.
