Saben X Embroidery Artist Fleur Woods

In the quest for contentment and calm, luxury accessories brand Saben, makes a creative connection with embroidery artist Fleur woods

This year marks Saben’s 20th business birthday, and with that milestone came the desire for founder Roanne to reconnect with her artistic roots. Having spent much of her time during last year’s lockdown contemplating the milestone ahead, Roanne reached out to embroidery artist Fleur Woods: Ro had admired Fleur’s work and double tapped everything on Fleur’s insta for many years. The two connected and had long yarns (over a cuppa and a toffee pop or three). Several months and a stitch in time after those locked down phone calls, a limited-edition collection came to life.

Inspired by Fleur’s ‘Soul Sisters’ series, Roanne was drawn to the spirituality and femininity of Fleur’s work. Her goal was to honour the craft and bring the collection to life as a wearable piece of art. The result is a deeply meaningful edit of hand-made, wearable artworks, designed to be used as a talisman to give the wearer the strength to take on the day, whatever may come their way.

In addition to the Fleur Collaboration pieces, a nod to the art of craft is found throughout the SOUL SISTERS collection with braided leather and a contrasting blanket stitch used on several the key pieces.

Craft loving fashionistas will rejoice at the union of Saben x Fleur Woods. Silhouettes ranging from mini, midi to maxi will be just at home on the beach or the city streets this summer. In a colour palette inspired by the enduring calm of nature, in the form of parchment, tan, ivy and terracotta sitting alongside perennial black.

Alongside the collaboration pieces, you will see Saben’s new collection of iconic silhouettes reimagined in new seasonal tones and our personal favourite, luxe braided leather (see the black cross body and tote directly below as an example).

The limited-edition hand-crafted collection will be available from the first week of August at stockists across New Zealand and Australia.
