Srisha + Kerry by Kelli Christine Photography

We went with blues and greens for the wedding colours to tie into the mountain colours and very simple white florals with highlights of the wildflowers.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

Kerry and I live in Nashville, where we love to spend time outside with our puppy Waffles, try new restaurants, and spend time with our family and friends! We love travelling and spending time in Colorado, especially skiing! Beaver Creek is our absolute favourite place, and it was no question that we wanted to get married there.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

We met in Chicago while I was in PA school, and Kerry was working in consulting. We had our first date right before COVID and we felt very comfortable from the start and formed a quick connection despite not being able to see each other during quarantine!

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

Kerry and I did long distance for a year when he moved to Nashville and I stayed in Chicago. During this time, we were so intentional about our communication and spending time together. We both realised during this that our relationship was something special and the following year I moved to Nashville to be with Kerry.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood and style of your wedding. (theme, key styling elements, florals, colour palettes etc.).

We always knew that we wanted to get married in Beaver Creek and share this special place with all of our family and friends. We knew that it was a commitment for all of our guests to travel out there, so we wanted to make sure they knew how much we appreciated them being there. We tried to plan fun group activities so people could enjoy the mountains in the summer with a group hike and a group golf outing. We also made handwritten notes to every guest as our seating chart!

We really wanted our wedding to feel timeless but also wanted to capture how beautiful Beaver Creek is during the summer. We wanted as many things to be outside as possible and tried to find a way to incorporate their beautiful wildflowers into the florals. We went with blues and greens for the wedding colours to tie into the mountain colours and very simple white florals with highlights of the wildflowers.

What styling and visual elements worked best for you? (could be things, the florals, particular hire products or your marquee etc., something the stylist created or simply just the scenic beauty of your location or the existing design of your venue).

We kept it pretty simple and timeless as we wanted to highlight how beautiful the mountain is and how special it felt to have all our people at the top of the mountain together. One of our favourite parts of our design element was the florals we hung from the dance floor. This was such a fun pop and helped to elevate the dance floor.

What did you enjoy most about the planning process and do you have any tips for couples starting their wedding planning journey?

Planning the wedding together was the most fun part. We both had things that were important to us so it was really fun to work on those visions together and see it all come to life. It was also really fun getting to plan the wedding with our families and incorporate them into such a special day for us, as well as watch them get closer during the wedding planning.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?

I got my wedding dress from a local bridal boutique here in Nashville called Bloom. It is owned by my friend and her mom and sister so it was really special to be able to get my dress from them. My mom also gave me some of my grandmother’s jewellery to wear on the wedding day, my veil was worn by my two sisters-in-law at their weddings, and my mother-in-law used her dress to make me a little purse to carry my things on the wedding day.

What was one, or two elements that were most important to you both that you were happy to spend a little more on? (food, photography, florals, the venue, your outfits?).

Our band was one of the most important things to us, and so we were willing to spend a little bit more on them. It was so worth it to see how much fun our guests had and all the memories we had on our dance floor with all of our friends and family.

Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?

Nothing at all!
