Ballet Core

A dream collaboration shoot in Paris.

Featuring bespoke bridal, delicate florals and thrifted and high street pieces – there’s something for every bride looking for bridal inspo. Includes 8+ bridal looks!

Planning and organisation were led by Faye Wilde Photography and content for brides. Our shooting styles are really complimentary. We’re all obsessed with wedding fashion and details and want coverage to complement the wedding, not take over. It was so fun to work together and bounce ideas together. When hunting for your photo/ video/ content team it’s always a great idea to consider teams who have experience working together. The energy is immaculate!

Florals were inspired by ballet core—graceful and delicate. Reflexed tulips capture a dancer’s fluidity with petals that mirror movement and poise. Soft textures and muted tones evoke the art of both flowers and dance.

For the bespoke bridal by Wilden London: Ballet costume originated in the 17th and 18th-century royal courts, based on court dress as reflected in our golden organza dress with a basque waist and caged hip panniers.

Ballet lends itself beautifully to bridal design, with romantic, feminine, and delicate details. Exaggerating movement with frothy textures and bold shapes in lightweight fabrics. Flouncy florals and frills, wispy frayed lace and chiffon, and layered feathers contrast with structured and cinching bodices.

The lovingly named gangster granny outfit was my (Faye) take on bridal prep in the ballet core setting. I had a vision and trawled the internet to find the perfect fit. I was so happy when I saw this two-piece lace set on Zara, together with the giant pearls. The coat that finished the look was thrifted, which I’m obsessed with—because why does everything have to be brand new? Vintage designer slips are going to be huge for wedding prep this year.

The bespoke silk dress by Susanna Greening was designed for the faye wilde workshops: workshops for creative editorial photographers. It was a dream to shoot this gown in Paris. If you find yourself trying on a million dresses because none of them are quite right… bespoke bridal could be the way to go! Bespoke bridal designers have the innate ability to make sense of all of the different ideas in your head and create something cohesive and beautiful.

The location was important. We knew it needed to be Paris, but as we were shooting in February had to be realistic about weather and wanted an indoor option. We hunted for accommodation with balconies, large floor to ceiling windows for maximum natural light and neutral interiors: everything we recommend for your wedding prep location.

We knew we wanted a real ballerina for this editorial, and Michaela was the perfect fit. A trained dancer who recently toured dancing Swan Lake! She was the perfect fit for this ballet core inspired theme.
