Luby + Dec by Jordan Green

The wedding was whimsical and romantic whilst simultaneously being luxurious and dramatic.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
Luby is the Art and Events Director at esteemed wedding supplier ‘Twilight Trees’ who specialises in artificial tree hire. Having been part of the planning process for hundreds of weddings, Luby relished the opportunity to handpick her own suppliers and curate her own special day. Saying that, the pressure was on and she had just one chance to get it right…

Tell us a little about the inspiration for your wedding day
The wedding was whimsical and romantic whilst simultaneously being luxurious and dramatic. The dress was reminiscent of Jane Austen and Marie Antoinette and so local wildflowers and heritage stems were sourced to bring a wildly abundant richness. The luxury and the drama were brought by oversized bottles of Champagne, lavish elements of styling and a whole collection of intricately created Twilight Trees.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…
Luby and Dec had always dreamt of an Italian wedding but after visiting several venues in Italy, they eventually chose to have a marquee wedding in Hampshire’s South Downs. This choice offered them a completely hands-on approach to the planning process and Luby was able to choose suppliers that she knew and trusted.

Having always envisaged a styled wedding with a rich and luxurious Italian feel, it was her first visit to Sassi that cemented a whole new style.  “Once the design was sketched out, it completely changed the style of everything else. The flowers, the feel, the whole vibe really and it became a lot more natural, green and whimsical” Luby.

Despite ‘Countrycore’ becoming a leading theme, Luby was still keen for a touch of Italian style, Twilight Trees created the Olive Collection and they transformed the British countryside into a Mediterranean-style landscape. The luxury and the drama were brought by oversized bottles of Champagne, lavish elements of styling and a whole collection of intricately created Twilight Trees.

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?
All the small details that really made the day unique.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, is there a story?
Sassi Holford and Twilight trees have worked together for several years. When Luby went wedding dress shopping it was serendipitous that the dress she fell in love with, just so happened to be one of Sassi’s designs. Luby and Sassi ended up working together once more but this time to design the dress of dreams.

What are the influences behind the dress?
Femininity. Embracing the female form in the most flattering way with cleverly constructed corsetry adding an element of fun with the detail.

Chilcomb church is very special to the team and sits within the tiny village that houses our headquarters. Luby’s stepmother was tasked with decorating the church with soft florals but as always, there was room for a little touch of Twilight. A pair of potted olives sat beautifully alongside the entrance to the church whilst a pair of white apple blossoms stood on either side of the aisle in the small and perfectly formed mediaeval church. Sometimes Twilight Trees are all about the impact but in this case, it was a case of less was more and they provided the perfect balance for this short and sacred ceremony.

The reception signalled time for a gear change and as the newlyweds stepped into their Porsche 911, guests were treated to a rustic ride in a farm cart towed by none other than a tractor! Cue the presence of The Grande Olive Tree, Mid Olive Trees and the launch of the brand new ‘Potted Olive’ which not only works beautifully on its own but alongside the Mid Olive is pure perfection. Luby and Dec have always dreamt of a wedding with Italian vibes and although they chose the South Downs over Sorrento in favour of a more hands on approach to the wedding, it has always been the part of the brief. This was always the time for the Olive Collection to shine.

Upon arrival at the reception we were greeted with a long hessian runway the start of which was framed by incredibly realistic Mid and Potted Olives. The runway itself was intermittently flanked by Mid Olive Trees until the final two from which hung handwritten tags with each guest’s name and table number inscribed. The interactive element of finding one’s table was a huge success amongst guests and added to the special touches that were such a big part of this intimate wedding.

Once within Sail & Peg’s luxury sailcloth tent, The Grande Olive tree took centre stage. Adorned with twinkling fairy lights, the magnificent tree stood exactly where it stands best, slap bang in the middle of the circular bar.
