The Garden of Eden

EDEN: Drama and desire beneath the trees.

Inspired by the story of The Garden of Eden, this sumptuous styled shoot was filled with intimacy, whimsy and drama. Featuring real-life couple Lecia and Dean, part one of the shoot (‘getting ready’) was set at the historic @hotel_windsor; a Melbourne icon featuring rooms dripping with salmon pink curtains, vintage floral carpet and golden chandeliers. The setting perfectly complemented the Rococo-style @van.der.kooij bridal gown, which was juxtaposed with modern styling elements, including a watermelon-red bouquet made from bread (made by @_its_eggy_), seductive lingerie from @kat_thelabel, and chunky chrome jewellery.

Part two of the shoot (ceremony and banquet) was set inside the industrial backstreets of Collingwood, in a courtyard oasis (@eden_collingwood) that feels as though it’s been tucked away from the world for years. When first entering the space, you feel like a child discovering a secret garden that’s been long forgotten amidst the chaotic urban sprawl outside its walls.

Styled by @innernorthstudio with soft and romantic sheer draping, industrial chrome, lush greenery and florals (@soya_florist) and pops of cherry red, we created a space that complemented the history and character of the surrounding warehouses and historic neighbourhood of Collingwood, but also felt warm and inviting; an inner-city hideaway under the canopies of the trees.

The ceremony setting featured a sheer backdrop which allowed live plants and sunlight to gently filter through; the seating was geometric and brutalist; and the floral installations were minimalist and sculptural, with deep green and burgundy hues, complemented by towers of bluestones.

The curved banquet table featured a live, moss centrepiece, chrome tableware, menus with moss inlay, chrome-coloured apples (a nod to The Garden of Eden) and an array of colourful desserts from renowned South-East Asian dessert chef @rymondtn.

As the sun set, projections danced across the exposed-brick walls of the courtyard, and the couple’s wardrobe, hair and makeup morphed from ethereal to gothic.

A cinematic shoot bursting with true love, lust and desire; where old-world whimsy met modern, industrial strength.
