Dimi + Mario by Collections Photography

Tell us how you met each other?

We met at work, and were always great friends before anything romantic happened.

Tell us about the proposal?

Mario was traditional and asked permission from my dad and sisters (the most important people to Dimi). We then went on our first overseas holiday together to the US, and on day three he proposed at the Venice Canals in Los Angeles. Mario hid the ring box in his shorts and aftera walk around he found the perfect bridge to propose on and got down on one knee! He then promptly asked to get up because his bad back was hurting him…..after I said yes of course!

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

We both work in the same field, and were a love story that everyone in the office was super invested in. We always got along like a house on fire, and truly built such an incredibly strong foundation of friendship which is why we work so well together now as husband and wife. We share similar values and goals, and we are just so excited that we get to spend the rest of our lives together and grow old together.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

We both love the colour dark green, and subconsciously this came through as our ‘theme’ for the wedding. Our wedding invitations were in a dark green envelope; the bridesmaids were in dark green dresses and Mario’s wedding jacket was a dark green too. When we thought about the venue, we knew Encore already was so beautiful with it being on St Kilda beach, that we didn’t want to overdo it. We are both pretty relaxed people and wanted the vibe of the wedding to reflect that. We brought in some beautiful napkins that were knotted, and our florals on the table were long and low with baby breath and peach-y colours. We let the venue speak for itself with minimalist input.

Tell us about your main outfits:

Mario’s outfit was a specially made bottle green jacket that was something different but also had the classic cut to it. The funny thing was that he needed Dimi to go to all the appointments, because he’d discovered a couple months before the wedding that he was a bit colour blind with green being one of the colours!

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

Honestly, it was the feeling more than anything. We were so happy and brimming with love. To see our two families so happy and celebrating our love was the most memorable part of the day.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

If you’re planning a wedding, keep reminding yourself that the reason you’re getting married is because you love each other, and not to worry about the perfect cutlery or the chairs – just remember to have fun because you only get that day once!
