At midnight as our guests were leaving, we had had a grand total of 102mm of rain, simply unheard of in a single day in November! But one thing was for certain, no one let the rain dampen their spirits and we all had a great night on the dance floor in our gumboots.

Our lovely celebrant Jacqui pronounced us married and was about to say “Jarryd, you may now kiss the bride”, but we were kissing already. In that moment, Jarryd and I were both besotted with each other and just could not help ourselves.

Next thing I know, he’s in the bathroom with my big wedding dress on the floor, carefully pouring cold water on it — the funniest sight! His hard work paid off and the blood came out completely. I’m very pleased this one happened at the end of the night!
We were both back in New Zealand the following April, and it was around then I started to make plans to propose; first consulting my Mum on the size of the diamond I had picked out, to which I was promptly told it wasn’t quite big enough!
One moment that we are still laughing about was the conga line that formed to Tipsy by J-Kwon. Seeing family and friends of all ages doing the conga to a hip hop song was an absolute highlight.
We arrived and I could sense it wasn’t going exactly to plan, so it was straight up to the bar for bubbles in the sun. After a great meal and sunset, we were riding high, so I took my chance, with all the nerves it just blurted out. There was a very quick yes, and the hot champagne and stinky cheese were long forgotten.
