Tasha Oppermans, the lead photographer and founder of Opperhill Photography, is a gifted wedding photographer based in Cheshire, capturing love stories across the UK and beyond.

Known for her heartfelt, emotion-filled imagery, Tasha has a talent for preserving the quiet, meaningful moments—those hand squeezes, teary glances, and joyful embraces. Her work is rooted in genuine human connection, and her calm, warm presence makes couples feel instantly at ease. We spoke with Tasha about what inspires her, her unique approach, and the moments that make her work so special.

Your love for documenting genuine connection is so clear—what do you think makes your photography style truly unique?

I really do love celebrating each couple’s unique love story, showcasing the way they like to express their love. I don’t have a cookie-cutter approach to my photography; I like to adapt to my couples so that their pictures genuinely reflect how they are together, bringing a feeling of real authenticity.

You describe photographing weddings as a “dream come true.” What is it about weddings that continues to inspire and excite you with every shoot?

It’s such a clique, but I am such a romantic! I loved planning my own wedding; it was the most special day of my life, and I’m such a planner. So to share in my couple’s experience, to see their vision come to life, and see who they have chosen to surround themselves with, how they celebrate their love, is so exciting to me. I love that each wedding I capture is so different; it keeps it fresh and gives me so much to be inspired by.

You mention wanting couples to feel their pictures, not just see them. How do you approach storytelling in a way that evokes emotion and nostalgia?

Part of it is getting to know the couple as individuals, understanding what they are excited about, or nervous about, and connecting with them on a human basis as well as a photographer. That allows them to open up to me, meaning they can be more themselves in front of my camera. I love to include movement, and put my couple at ease by chatting with them, so that there are no awkward silences, just hanging out together with a bit of photography sprinkled in.

What are some of the most memorable moments you’ve captured—those little hand-squeezes, glances, or spontaneous laughs—that still stick with you?

Some of the most memorable moments for me are when the couple let me into their world and share what is meaningful to them. One groom told me the story about how his bride’s late mother’s veil is tied around her flowers. Watching couples give each other support during emotional speeches. A groom surprises his bride with a personalised song. All of those moments will stick with me for a long time.

You’re based in the North West and travel all over the UK and abroad—what kind of locations light you up creatively? Any dream destinations you’d love to shoot in the coming years?

Anywhere with stunning architecture really inspires me, likely because my father is an architect, whether it’s a beautiful Cathedral or a modern structure such as Neuendorf House, anywhere where the light and lines are striking! I’d love to capture more weddings abroad, particularly Italy and France, having grown up visiting those countries. I think those destination weddings have such a unique, relaxed feel and aesthetic that I love.

As a mum, a wife, and a photographer, do you feel your personal experiences influence how you connect with couples and capture their relationships?

Absolutely. Weddings are so full of emotions, and when you strip back all the styling and visuals, the people and those connections are what are really important. Being a mother and wife myself gives me the empathy and understanding that the people we celebrate with are so vital to your experience, and how best to capture that.

What do you think are the biggest advantages for couples who choose to work with you? What do they get that goes beyond the final gallery?

My couples get someone who is completely invested in their day and passionate about making it as wonderful as possible. I’m an open book for planning guidance and ideas, and am willing to step in and be there for my couples when they need it. Beyond the pictures, I also edit pictures for my couples during their wedding breakfast and print them on Instax film prints, so they instantly have some pictures to cherish and share – my couples LOVE having these so soon and love the little keepsake.

For couples currently searching for their perfect wedding photographer, what advice would you give them to help find someone who’s the right fit?

Take your time, do your research, and jump on a call! Make sure you see a full gallery or two to see not just their hero shots but how they capture your details, your guests, at different times of day, not just in the perfect lighting situations that you might see on Instagram. And you spend the most time with your photographer out of all your wedding suppliers, so make sure you get along on a personal level and feel relaxed and comfortable with them!

Your work is so full of heart and intimacy. How do you help couples feel at ease in front of the camera so that their real connection shines through?

Remembering that at the end of the day, you are all just humans, and wedding days can be a LOT. A complete whirlwind of nerves, excitement, and emotion – treating my couples as people and not just people I have just met, validating their feelings and putting them at ease by having a laugh and a chat allows me to get even closer with them, which comes through in my work.

Looking ahead, are there any new directions, projects, or creative ideas you’re excited to explore in your photography journey?

Oh, lots, but in particular, I am launching a workshop alongside Elizabeth and Josh Films to provide education and a sense of community for wedding photographers and videographers. We can’t wait to host our first workshop soon, as it’s such a passionate project of ours!
